Notation

My personal notation system includes illustrations and text and captures the language Yvonne Rainer used when she taught her iconic dance, Trio A (1966) to me. The notation system includes approximately 100 notecards for the dance Trio A (1966). These illustrations map and track the various systems (movements, spacing, timing and gaze) of the dance. This material forms an important archive that is incorporated into the work I do of transmitting her dances (from memory) and as a way to talk about positive lasting legacy and archival practices.
